Special ash destination ideas
A few days after cremation, the ashes of your deceased loved one can be collected from the crematorium. After these days, you do not have to make a choice yet. You can also take the ashes home to think about a suitable destination for them. To help you make this decision, we give you nine (special) options for where to keep the ashes.
- Burial in nature: More and more people are choosing to have their ashes buried in a natural area. This can be in a specially designated cemetery, but some people choose to have their ashes scattered in a natural area where they spent a lot of time or had a special connection with.
- Scattering ashes at sea: For your loved ones who had a connection with the sea, scattering the ashes at sea is a great option. This can be done through a solemn ceremony on a boat or by scattering the ashes in the sea from a specially designated place on the coast.
- Scatter ashes in space: A unique final destination for the ashes is having it launched into space. This is probably the most spectacular way to say goodbye to a loved one.
- Tree of remembrance: There are companies that offer trees in which the ashes of a deceased person can be buried. This is because the ashes left after cremation contain natural substances that can serve as nutrients for trees. This tree is a lasting and tangible reminder of your loved one. This tree can then be placed in the cemetery, your own garden or a park or nature reserve. It is also possible to place a small tree on your terrace or balcony.
- Ashes jewellery: Ashes jewellery is a beautiful way to carry your loved one close to you. Ashes jewellery is actually a kind of mini urn in the form of an ash jewellery, such as an ash pendant, ash ring, earring, necklace or bracelet. Ash jewellery is easy to order online with us and available in many different materials and price ranges. It is important to us that you can wear a piece of jewellery for a long time and that it is not easily damaged. That is why we only offer ash jewellery made of durable materials, such as high-quality stainless steel, silver and gold.
- Urns for ashes: A traditional way to store ashes is to use an urn for ashes. There are many different types of urns for ashes available, from simple ceramic urns to luxury urns made of noble materials such as marble or bronze. These urns are available in various price ranges and designs and are easy to order on our website.
- In the air with a helium balloon: You can also choose to release the ashes into large helium balloons. These balloons rise 25 kilometres into the air and then burst. This releases the ashes and spreads them around the earth in many directions.
- A banging end through a flare: After cremation, an average of three to four kilos of ashes remains. A flare can contain around 500 grams. You can therefore opt for several arrows or to keep some of the ashes in another way. This type of ash scattering is only allowed from certain locations on the coast. In addition, the arrow must be shot in the direction of the sea.
- Ashes into art: If your deceased loved one loved art, you can also have the ashes incorporated into a painting. Together with an artist, you will discuss the design of the painting and how the ashes will be incorporated into the painting. For example, the ashes can be incorporated into the entire painting, a particular object in the painting or, for example, your loved one's favourite colour.
